At Greenwich, near London on the 15th Inst, Mr Phatuel Granger of Hartlepool Master Mariner, much respected. His death was accelerated by an accident received on board the Beatrix of Whitby, whilst steering. The tiller hit him a severe blow to the side, breaking one of his ribs and doing other internal injuries.

At Greenwich, near London on the 15th Inst Mr Phatnel (their spelling) Granger of Hartlepool master mariner aged 66 years.
His death was accelerated by an accident received on board Beatrix of Whitby, whilst steering. The tiller hit him a severe blow on the side, breaking one of his ribs and causing other internal injuries.
Deceased was highly respected and his loss will be a subject of deep regret to many who knew and valued him as an intelligent and exemplary seaman and a most upright master.
